PULSAR®, the industry leader in high- performance apparel, has made a name for itself as an expert manufacturer and designer of high quality, premium hi-vis clothing and protective workwear.
In 1979, Praybourne Ltd was founded by lan Jukes. The company began manufacturing luggage and accessories for consumers within the fishing industry before opening-up a second production facility in Birkenhead, Liverpool, around 6 years later.
In the following 2 years, Praybourne relocated to a larger premises in Redditch, Worcestershire - the same town in which PULSAR® is located today. lan's son, Stuart Jukes, the current Managing Director joined the company in 1999, establishing the second generation of the family company.
A Diverse & Deeply Rooted History
It wasn't until the year 2000, exactly 21 years after Praybourne Ltd was born, that the first hint of the PULSAR® brand began to show. The business acquired another company and started to manufacture high-frequency welded reflective accessories under the PULSAR® brand.
As the years progressed, PULSAR® continued to grow with the addition of the renowned thermal and flame-retardant base layer collections to the company's portfolio. Then in 2007, Praybourne Ltd released its very first offering of hi-vis professional safety garments and the company we all know today, came to fruition.
During the next few years, the company added more brands to the mix, including Pulsarail, Pulsarneon and Xcelcius.
The Spectacular Rise of PULSAR®
Fast forward to 2010, the company moved into the headquarters that it is still housed in to this day, continuing to employ workers as the business (and the PULSAR® brand) proceeded to grow in reputation across its customer base and the general market across the United Kingdom.
Praybourne Ltd continued to expand its premises, clearing more room for stock, whilst ensuring that its garments remained of the highest quality, a priority that remained of the highest importance. The safety of the wearer was always paramount when developing new garment collections.
The introduction of the PULSAR® Evolution range challenged the most premium waterproof garments in the market, in terms of quality, comfort and protection. It consisted of an innovative 3-layer Storm Coat and Over Trouser, later complemented with a Bomber Jacket into the range.
In the last few years, the PULSAR® brand has continued to accelerate into what it is today, thanks to the continued hard work, passion and determination of all involved whether that be PULSAR® employees, its broader network of suppliers, the distributor base or else manufacturing facilities across the globe.
Over time, the reputation and presence of the company has only become stronger and more resolute across the United Kingdom.
A Brand New Identity
In 2017, the company underwent a full rebrand, bringing in a brand new logo and corporate colours whilst simplifying its message to the market. The entire business was now known as PULSAR®.
This was also the year that the performance wear expert launched a collection very close to its heart, signifying a huge step-up for the company and the entire hi-vis market in general.
The debut of PULSAR® Evolution signaled a rising level of quality across the board.
The PULSAR® Ladies Collection
For far too long, women had been a second thought when it came to protective clothing, having to settle for clothing that was designed for men. This not only hindered comfort and accessibility, but more importantly, wearer protection.
PULSAR® was determined to change this, introducing a full clothing collection specifically designed, shaped and dedicated for women. This exciting range is made up of Polo Shirts, Combat Trousers, Storm Coats and Soft Shells, available in both hi-vis yellow and orange, with future plans in place to expand the range even further.
A Partnership of International Significance
In 2018, PULSAR® proudly announced its partnership with footwear giant Reebok and started distributing the Reebok Safety Footwear into the UK market for the very first time.
It was, and still very much is, an immense honour for the PULSAR® brand to be trusted by such a prestigious business to represent their brand in the UK market. PULSAR® hopes the partnership continues to grow stronger into the future.
Braving the Elements
When the impact of COVID-19 hit the world, PULSAR®, like countless other businesses across not only the UK but the entire world, was thrown into a situation that it had never anticipated. However, thanks to the resolve, understanding and courage shown by the entire company, PULSAR® was able to continue its distribution of hi-vis clothing, as well as adapting and moving into the world of PPE through the importation of face masks and UK production of hand sanitiser.
The workwear expert was proud to provide key workers up and down the country with conforming, high-quality PPE, helping the UK deal with its COVID-19 response.
This leads up to today, where PULSAR® continues to strive to make life safer and more comfortable for workers across various sectors and industries.
Although now over 20 years old, this is just the beginning of PULSAR®'s innovation in the world of protective clothing.
