WHAT IS AN ARC FLASH?

PULSAR ARC

Working closely with Protal® and other partners, we have created a highly innovative collection of FR & Electric ARC protective clothing.

Electric ARC clothing must meet more stringent criteria than generic FR certified garments. In order to comply with the standards they need to go through several rigorous tests ensuring not only the fabric passes by also the complete garment, making them fit for purpose.

Electric ARC garments are normally worn in potentially life threatening working environments, which is why testing process must be precise, making them category III products.

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN FR & ARC

CHECK OUT HOW STRONG OUR FABRICS ARE ON OUR PRARC05 & PRARC07!

Protal® is a super high-performance Protex fibre blend, ultimately giving the wearer a consistency of compliance not available with many other FR fabrics. Protal® has 3 different levels of fabrics - Protal® 1, Protal® 3, Protal® 5.

Protal®'s uniquely balanced and patented blends of Protex fibre, FR viscose and other technical fibres in Protal® 3 and 5 produce an inherently flame retardant fabric rand that's strong and extremely durable, yet lightweight, flexible and breathable.

ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY

PULSAR ARC

An ARC Thermal Value (ATPV) refers to the maximum incident energy (in calories per centimetre squared) that protective equipment can be exposes to and prevent to onsent of a second-degree burns where there is a 50% probability.

An Energy Limit Value (ELIM) is the point at which the clothing gives a 0% probability of enough energy getting through the garment to cause a second-degree burn. It is the new cal/cm2 measurement.

Ratings are based upon the total weight of the fabric and ratings can be stacked when using a layered system. A higher rating means better protection. To summarise both ELIM and ATPV are properties used to determine the effectiveness of ARC Flash clothing. Each garment within the Protect FR & Electric ARC Collection varies on both of these ratings.

ATPV VS ELIM
